The American Experience Foundation (AEF) has successfully enhanced traditional work-based learning (WBL) academic curricula in Washington, DC by bridging the gap between educators and industry leaders, building opportunities and partnerships for career exploration and skill development.
By collaborating with the local destination marketing organization and industry employers in hospitality, travel and tourism, events, culinary arts, media and marketing, and beyond, AEF connects students to hands-on experiences that keep them engaged in learning, complement their classroom learning, build their professional networks, and prepare them for future careers.
Drawing from AEF’s work, this session will explore how educators can enrich their existing curricula by forming industry partnerships and turning partners into advocates for your scholars to further create opportunities for internships, job shadowing, and more.
